Ponchatoula Man Wanted on Numerous Charges

Asanti Wilson (30) of Ponchatoula is wanted by the Ponchatoula Police department after he fled from officers attempting to arrest him Tuesday (March 26, 2019). Officers, armed with multiple city and fugitive warrants, went to his residence in the Village Oaks Subdivision and found him in a vehicle in the driveway. Wilson refused to cooperate with officers. He then  proceeded to drive recklessly, attempted to run over to officers, crashed into the carport at the residence, and drove across the yard. The vehicle came to a stop in a ditch.
Wilson fled on foot until he reached a heavily wooded area and could no longer be seen. Hammond Police Department Officers and K-9, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Air Support, and the Department of Homeland Security assisted in the search for Wilson but were unsuccessful.

Numerous drug-related items were located during the search of Wilson’s residence to include a bill counter, weighing scales, drug manufacturing equipment, a handgun, and large amounts of different narcotics.

Additional warrants have been issued for Asanti Wilson on the charges of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer (2 counts), Criminal Damage (3 counts), Possession with Intent to Distribute Sch.II Drugs (2 counts), Possession with Intent to Distribute Sch. I Drugs (2 counts), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Firearm while Possessing CDS, Resisting by Flight- Vehicle, Resisting an Officer, and Creation/ Operation of Clandestine Laboratory.
