Escapee From Amite Jail Has Been Apprehended

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports today that on March 17, 2019, convicted felon
Hulus Doughty (18),escaped from the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite, Louisiana. He was apprehended without incident within a short period of time.

Sheriff Edwards notes “procedural violations attributed to the escape. Although the antiquated design of the facility contributed, the physical plant remains intact and there is no cause for immediate concern. Due to the obvious need to keep security measures, techniques, and investigative tools safeguarded, no other details will be released.”

A full internal review of the incident is underway and corrective measures have been taken.
