Franklinton Police Investigating Report of Gunfire

At 6:17 PM today (Friday, February 22, 2019), Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown reported that an investigation is ongoing into a gunshot being fired outside the Fairgrounds Apartments in Franklinton.
The FPD received a 911 call at approximately 3:00 PM about a gunshot and officers responded to the Fairgrounds Apartments. Responding officers found an individual lying on the ground with an apparent ankle injury. The subject was transported to the hospital for treatment. The investigation revealed that the injured subject and another individual had allegedly engaged in an altercation over the sale of narcotics. During the altercation, a handgun was produced and fired. One subject fled on foot while the other was left on the ground suffering from an injury. No one was injured due to the gunfire.

Patrolman Thomas Mitchell detained the fleeing subject a short time later while Patrolman 1st Class Anthony Cox and K-9 Finley conducted back track of the subjects last known direction of travel.
