Obituary

Russell McElveen
February 25, 1941 - January 9, 2019



Joseph Russell McElveen, age 77 and a resident of Mt. Hermon,  died at his home Wednesday January 9, 2019 following a lengthy illness. He was a 1959 graduate of Franklinton High School and had a long career as a pipe-fitter for the Local 198 union in Baton Rouge. Russell also was the owner/operator of Miraclean Services for many years. In his younger years, he loved playing and coaching baseball. Russell always enjoyed woodworking as well as hunting and the outdoors.

Survived by: 3 Sons and Daughters in law: Mark and Ginny McElveen, Casey and Wanda McElveen all of Kentwood, Matt McElveen of Amite; Daughter and Son in law: Samantha and Sam Bellue of Walker; 10 Grandchildren and Spouses: Christopher McElveen, Jesse McElveen, Malcolm and Katie McElveen, Cameron and Chipper McElveen, Laramie McElveen, Tony McElveen, Dalton McElveen, Corey McElveen, Taylor Bellue and Caleb Tomlinson, Emily Bellue; 5 Great-grandchildren: EllaClaire McElveen, Elijah McElveen, Haley Ann Geiling, Addison Boitnott, Liam Boitnott; 3 Brothers and Sisters in law: Ted and Kathy McElveen of Stony Point, Randy and Debbie McElveen of Mt. Hermon, Ronald McElveen of Franklinton; Sister: Lynette McElveen of Isabel; Mother of his Children: Carolyn C. McElveen ; Also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lucious L. and Mildred McElveen, recently by brother Paul McElveen and an infant brother Ricky McElveen

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday January 11th from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 4:00 pm Friday with Rev. Scott Spinks and Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Jenkins Cemetery at a later date.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to his caregivers Cathy McIntyre, Sheila Salazar, Kathy Briggs and her daughters for their love and support and also to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to a charity of your choice.

Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren
