Lanester McKay was born in Bogalusa, LA to the late Albert and Ganey Brumfield McKay. Lanester aka Lanny Boy lived in Franklinton, LA, then later moved to California for a few years, then returned to the Franklinton, where he worked as a steel laborer for many years. Lanny Boy also worked as a handyman, helping the community doing odds and ends work. He was also known by many in the community.
Lanester McKay joined New Hope Methodist Church at an early age, under the leadership of the late Early Garrett. He was also a member of the Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Mallory Callahan where he served on the Men's Usher Board.
He leaves to Cherish his memories; One daughter Erica McKay (Jeremy) Green of Dallas,TX; One son Jamie (Lisa) McKay of Slidell, La and one stepson; Pastor Nakia ( First Lady KeLisha) of Covington, La. four brothers: Lonnie (Betty) McKay of Franklinton, LA, Alvin McKay of Franklinton, LA; Ronnie McKay of Chattanooga, TN; Larry McKay of Houston, TX ; Two sisters; Lymonia Hart of Franklinton, LA and Elma Lee McKay of Houston, TX.
Lanester was preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Ganey McKay and a nephew Benny McKay.
Visitation will be at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana on Saturday, December 15, 2018 fom 11:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM
