Donald Earl Slocum
July 4, 1958 - September 6, 2018



Donald Earl Slocum, age 60 and a resident of Mt. Hermon, died Thursday morning September 6, 2018 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He was recently retired from the Washington Parish School Board as a maintenance worker after many years. He was formerly a carpenter that had built many houses throughout the area. Donald loved to cook outdoors on his big Bar-B-Que grill and liked to watch NASCAR. He also enjoyed deer hunting and the outdoors.

Survived by: 3 Brothers and Sisters in law: Dan and Diane Slocum of Mt. Hermon, T.C. Slocum, Jr. and Carolyn Slocum of Dayton, TX, Phillip Slocum of Mt. Hermon; 2 Sisters and a Brother in law: Betty Louise Magee of Nashville, TN, Martha Ann Burk and John Burk of Grand Rapids, MI; 2 Sisters in law: Ann Slocum of Phoenix, AZ, Betty Copeland Slocum of Liberty, MS; Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents T.C. Slocum and Omie Lou Miller Slocum, brothers William Ray “Bill” Slocum, David Slocum, Joseph Slocum, James Slocum, young brothers Paul Wayne Slocum, Samuel Slocum, sisters Ruth King, Marie Burch and infant sister Mary Lou Slocum.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday September 9th from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 pm Sunday with Rev. Leroy McElveen and Rev. Randall Garcia officiating. Burial will follow in the Statham Cemetery.
