Bogalusa Council and School Board Candidates Forum

Candidates on the November 6, 2018 ballot for the Bogalusa City Council and the Bogalusa School Board met at the Bogalusa High School auditorium on September 20, 2018. The forum was sponsored by Citizens for Education and Community Improvement (CECI) and local attorney Bill Arata served as the moderator. Candidates were given the opportunity to introduce themselves, answer a series of questions, and make closing remarks to the audience during the approximately hour and half event.
Questions posed to the City Council candidates were:
  • What community initiatives do you plan on implementing, if any, to improve Bogalusa's overall aesthetic?
  • What are your thoughts on marketing Bogalusa's strengths to outsiders, travellers, tourists to create  more tax revenue to the City?
  • What is your plan to address risk factors affecting our youth?
Questions posed to School Board candidates were:
  • What have you done to help improve the image of the Bogalusa City Schools System (for current members) or What plans do you have to help improve the image of the Bogalusa City Schools System (for candidates)?
  • Do you support student accountability to create a safer learning environment for students who want to learn and how will you address disciplinary actions in schools?
  • What are your thoughts and your position on the proposed merger of the Bogalusa City Schools with the Washington Parish School System?
