Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that following an investigation, Ernest Lankford (39) of Independence was arrested and charged with the July 5, 2018 burglary of a coke machine in Independence.Surveillance cameras captured a suspect, as he used a drill to, breaking into several vending machines and removing the currency.
Detectives learned of a similar crime that occurred in the Walker area during the same time period. This suspect and his vehicle were captured on surveillance video as he used a drill to gain entry into several vending machines, subsequently removing the currency.
Detectives were able to locate the suspect and vehicle traveling on Hano Road in Independence, Lankford was taken into custody.
