Cyclist Killed in Hit and Run Crash in Slidell

Sandra Duet Royer (42) of Slidell died Thursday (July 5, 2018) in a hit and run crash on LA 1090 at Brownswitch Road in Slidell. Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L are looking for the driver of a dark colored GMC/Chevrolet pickup or SUV for questioning.
Troopers determined that around 9:29 pm on July 5th, Royer was wearing an orange safety vest and riding a Huffy mountain style bicycle equipped with a white light on the front and a red reflector on the rear of the bike. Royer was struck from behind by a dark colored Chevrolet/GMC pickup or SUV. Royer was ejected from the bicycle and sustained severe injuries. She was transported to Ochsner Medical Center-Northshore, where she ultimately succumbed to injuries.
The suspect vehicle could have damage to the right rear view mirror and front end. The vehicle was last seen fleeing northbound on LA 1090. If you have information pertaining to this crash, please contact Louisiana State Police Troop L at 985-893-6250.
