
The BPD Detective Division's investigation identified an alleged suspect as Andre D. Lucas (26) of Bogalusa. The shooting victim stated that he and Lucas got into a confrontation during which Lucas accused him of calling the police on him. The victim got into a vehicle with a friend, then saw Lucas approaching with a handgun, and he then got out of the vehicle and ran. However, Lucas allegedly fired fired four or five rounds, striking the victim once in the hip area. Felony warrants were Issued for the arrest of Andre Lucas.
On Monday (July 9, 2018), officers of the BPD Detective Division saw Lucas leaving a store on Shenandoah Street and followed him to a residence on Pine Ridge Road where officers placed Lucas under arrest.
During a search of Lucas’ vehicle, officers located a bag with a large amount of methamphetamine, two cell phones and a digital scale that is commonly used for the sale and packaging of narcotics. During a search of Lucas' residence, officers located 82 grams of suspected marijuana, 9 Suboxone Strips and a Crown Royal bag containing bullets.
Lucas was booked on charges that included Attempted 2nd degree Murder, Illegal Use of Weapons, and numerous drug related offenses.
Lucas has been linked to a March 2018 incident in which he allegedly shot at another individual and three arrest warrants are being sought in connection with that incident.
