Two Found Near Amite With Gunshot Wounds

At 2:52 pm Monday afternoon (June 25, 2018), the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reported deputies were called to a scene on I-55 northbound near the Amite overpass where two people were found near a parked car with apparent gunshot wounds.
At 4:54 pm Monday, an update reported that both persons are in critical, yet stable condition.  Preliminary investigation reveals that the incident is a possible attempt at a murder-suicide. It is also known that the two individuals are not residents of Tangipahoa Parish but were just passing through the parish at the time the incident occurred.
