Franklinton Police Chief Releases June Stats

Franklinton Police Chief Olander Smith provided a report of his department's activities at the Franklinton Board of Aldermen meeting on June 26, 2017. Information provided is actually inclusive of May 22 to June 27 of 2018. The report reflected a total of 723 Calls for Service, divided into the headings of Public Assistance, Traffic, and Criminal Patrol.

  • Responses for Public Assistance included general complaints (253), extra patrols (36), medical calls (31), alarms (43), and suspicious persons or vehicles (50).
  • Traffic activity included traffic stops (127), vehicle crashes (19), hit and runs (4), reckless operation (12), DWI (2), and citations (48).
  • Criminal Patrol responses included disturbances (22), fights (1), simple battery (3), criminal damage to property (4), burglaries (3), theft and shoplifting (11), narcotics (2). Officers made 47 total arrests.

Chief Smith also reported that investigators are working a homicide which occurred Friday evening (June 22, 2018) in the 2400 block of Greenlaw Avenue.
