The Council also passed a resolution to facilitate, by waiving various fees, the redevelopment of the former Pleasant Hill Elementary School on Avenue C into a 48 unit housing facility. The Bogalusa School Board had agreed to sell the property to F3 Management to be used as new housing for senior residents of the City. The facility will have an activity center and other improvements for the residents.
In other business, the Council
- heard a report and received comments regarding water system improvements in the Richardsontown community funded by a a Community Development Block Grant.
- introduced two ordinances to be considered at the meeting on June 19, 2018.
- held a public hearing on and approved the re-subdivision of 11.91 acres (29 lots) for Gregory Brumfield.
- Heard from residents during the Public Participation part of the meeting,
Mayor Wendy Perrette commented on code enforcement, the need for wrecker services to clean up after responding to accidents, the purchase of adjudicated properties, reported on a productive meeting on May 24th with the Legislative Auditor related to resolving retirement issues, the water improvements in Richardsontown, congratulated Gregory Brumfield on his project being approved, and had department heads provide reports on the Police Department, the Airport, and Parks and Recreation.
