Raffle Fundraiser Funds Scholarships in Memory of John Hartzog, Sr.

In January of 2018 members of the Bogalusa Police Benevolence Association decided to assist local
students by offering (3) $500.00 scholarships to local high school graduates in memory of retired Assistant Chief John Hartzog, Sr.
John Hartzog, Sr. joined the Bogalusa Police department in 1961, retired in 1991, was a founding member of the Association, and was very instrumental in the planning and building of the Bogalusa Police Association lodge. Hartzog had a strong desire to see that high school students in our community were given opportunities for success.
The Bogalusa Police Benevolence Association conducted a fundraiser raffle supporting the John Hartzog Sr. scholarship fund and on May 23, 2018 the drawing for the raffle was held at Bogalusa City Hall. The winner was Cathy Magee from Franklinton. Several members of the Hartzog family were present for the drawing. John Hartzog, III and Johnna Hartzog, grandchildren of Hartzog Sr., pulled the winning ticket.
The Bogalusa Police Benevolence Association and Members of the Hartzog Family would like to thank all individuals who supported this worthy cause.
