Bobbie Leroy Smith
December 16, 1928 - May 10, 2018



Bobby Leroy Smith was born to the late Agnes Francis and the late Hollis Smith Sr. on December 16, 1928. On May 10, 2018 at 4:30 AM, he went home to be with our Lord and Savior.
As a young child he grew up in Progress/Osyka, Miss. and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was a firm believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Bobbie loved everyone he encountered throughout his life span, especially his family. Family was top priority to him. He traveled near and far to see his family.
During his teenage years, he moved to New Orleans, LA in search of finding a job. Eventually he migrated to Chicago, Ill where he located a job at Chicago Steel Mill. He lived in Chicago, Ill for many years until he approached his years of retirement. He also had a trade in carpentry, self-taught mechanic, just to make it known, he was his own jack of all trades. Bobbie was well groomed and a neatly dressed man. Even in his younger years, he was a clean-cut type of guy. He loved family gatherings and attending any function to make his grand entrance. He was well-loved by many family members and friends. He was a devoted mason, ranking 33rd degree in his chapter. Bobbie also maintained a membership in Soul Brothers Social and Pleasure Club for many years. He was a great man and a great father in a unique way. He will be missed by all those who knew him, but mostly by his family. We love you Buttercup, we love you daddy, we love you Grand-daddy, we love you brother, we love you uncle, we love you friend and we love you Pete.
Bobbie leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Ruth J. Smith; 4 daughters, Catherine (Lionel) Stevens, Toni Campbell, and Natasha Trotman all of New Orleans LA and Linda Smith of Los Angeles, CA; 1 step daughter, Treneka Johnson of New Orleans, LA; 3 sons, Japheth “Jay” Trotman of Jonesboro, GA, Nathan Trotman of St. Martinsville, LA, and Hollis Smith of New Orleans, LA; 1 step-son, Robert Tyler of Jackson, Miss; 4 brothers, Kermit Coleman of Kentwood, LA, Hollis Edward Smith of Hammond, LA, Arthur Johnson of Arcola, LA, and Danny Smith; 1 brother-in-law, Richard Johnson of New Orleans, LA; 3 sister, Charlena McClendon of Toledo, OH, Faye James of Kentwood, LA, Detrinette Williams of Baton Rouge, LA; 4 sisters-in-law, Joyce Moore, Hilda Moore, Mary Phelps, Bertha Johnson all of New Orleans, LA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; 1 God child, Britany Wells.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hollis Smith, Jr. and Agnes Francis; step mother, Bernice Smith; 2 sons, Bobby Smith, Jr. and Derek Smith; 5 sisters, Rose Anna Alexander, Mary Alice Coleman, Johnnie Mae Smith, Willie Jean Brumfield, Magdaline Mary Reed; 2 bothers, Willie Johnson, Toby Johnson; 1 grandson; 2 sisters-in-law, Dianne Reese, Alfreda Johnson; 1 brother-in-law, Alfred Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Metropolitan Baptist Church 943 North Tonti Street New Orleans, Louisiana 70119.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church 2063 Shady Grove Road Osyka, Mississippi 39657.
