STPSO Deputy Shot Following Vehicle Pursuit - Suspect Dead

A St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputy is now out of surgery and in stable condition after he was shot Sunday morning (April 1, 2018) following a vehicle pursuit that ended in the Goodbee area.
Shortly before 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies attempted to make a vehicle stop on a subject who was believed to be involved in reported vehicle burglaries. The subject fled in his vehicle. Following a pursuit, the subject crashed his vehicle in a ditch, and gunfire was exchanged between the subject and deputies.
A deputy and the subject were shot in the exchange. The male subject is deceased.
