Ganey Brumfield McKay
July 05, 1931 - January 07, 2018



Ganey Brumfield McKay of Franklinton died January 7, 2018 at the age of 86. She was born July 5, 1931 in Hackley, Louisiana to Ganey Brumfield and Emma Cotton Brumfield.
Ganey married Albert McKay at an early age and to this union seven children were born, she also acquired one God child that she raised as her own.
Ganey lived in Franklinton, Louisiana for over 40 years, where she worked at Dependable Cleaners, Riverside Medical Center, and she became a Nanny to many children. She later moved to Houston, Texas were she worked at the Harris County Hospital District until she retired, She then moved back to Franklinton, Louisiana. She became an active participate at the Council on Aging. Where she got to meet and greet many people.
She joined New Hope Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Early Garrett at and early age. She also joined Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Mallory Callahan, there she was active in the Senior Choir, Senior Mission, volunteered on the Kitchen Committiee and making baskets for the needy at Christmas, active in the Outreach Ministry at the Nursing Home. She loved crafting making funeral arrangements and talking to people. She was a mother to all.
She leaves to cherish her memories five sons, Lonnie (Betty Jo) McKay of Franklinton, Louisiana, Lanester McKay, Alvin McKay both of Franklinton, Louisiana, Ronnie McKay of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Larry McKay of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Lymonia Hart of Franklinton, Louisiana, and Elma Lee McKay of Houston, Texas; one God daughter, Janice Magee of Mt. Hermon, Louisiana; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren, and 1 on the way.
Ganey was preceded in death by her parents, Ganey and Emma; three brothers, Leo Brumfield, Harvey Brumfield, Sr., and Ezekiel Brumfield; one sister-in-law, Irene Brumfield, and one grandson, Benny T. McKay.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home at 2000 Washington Street, Franklinton, LA.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Sweet Rest Baptist Missionary Baptist Church Pastor Nakia McKay will be officiating. Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton, LA are in charge of arrangements.
