Mary O'Brien Erwin Babington
September 26, 1922 - November 29, 2017



MARY O’BRIEN ERWIN BABINGTON, AGE 95 and a resident of Slidell died at 12:07 pm Wednesday November 29, 2017 at the Park Provence assisted-living center. She was born September 26, 1922 and a former longtime resident of Franklinton. Mary was a native of Queens, NY where she worked as a secretary for the FBI during World War II when she met her first husband. Together they later moved to Franklinton where she was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed singing and entertaining her friends and family including a St. Patrick’s Day gathering each year, as she was very proud of her Irish heritage. Mary was also a longtime member of the Franklinton Women’s Club.
Survived by: 3 Sons and Daughters in law: James Russell Erwin and Diane Erwin of Slidell, Michael R. Erwin and Sue Erwin of Baton Rouge, Thomas B. “Tommy” Erwin, III of Franklinton; Daughter: Mary Ann Erwin of Franklinton; 7 Grandchildren and Spouses: Jeffrey R. Erwin and Elissa Erwin, Rachel and Scott Lipps, Christopher and Terri Erwin, Michael R. Erwin, Lisa and Brent Hoggat, Thomas B. “Bucky” Erwin, IV and Colbye Erwin, Laurie and Heath Thomas; 19 Great-grandchildren; 2 Sisters: Sis. Patricia Ann O’Brien, Paula Alfarone both of New York; Also numerous nieces, nephews other family member and many friends.
She was preceded in death by husbands Woodrow Wilson “Squinch” Erwin, William Frank “Bill” Babington, sisters Ann “Billie” O’Brien, Theresa Reller, brothers James O’Brien, Jack O’Brien, Reese O’Brien, and Nick O’Brien.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday December 2nd from 9 am until 1 pm. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm with Father Rick Day and Rev. Bucky Erwin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Holy Family Catholic Church.
