Rosie Lee Smith
August 23, 1943 - December 01, 2017



Rosie Lee Smith, age 74, departed this life Friday, December 1, 2017. She was born on August 23, 1943 to the late J.D. Smith and Mary Morris Smith in Angie, LA. She joined Pilgrims Rest Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where she was baptized. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior in 1973 under the pastorate of Rev. Ivy Williams. She attended Seminary School and received her Certificate of Completion. She was a faithful servant in the following ministries of the church; former teacher of the Sunday School Primary Class and B.T.U. Youth class, member of the choir, Treasurer and former Vice President of the Senior Usher Board, member of the Senior Mission and was the Sunday School Enrollment Secretary. She also served on many other committees of the church and she was always on time for all church gatherings. She remained a faithful and devoted member until her illness and death.
Rosie graduated from Wesley Ray High School in Angie, LA., with the Class of 1963. She worked for Schilling Greenhouses, Lavon Sheridan and K&L Nursery in the Bogalusa area. She later worked as a caregiver for Mrs. Otney Peters in Angie, LA.
Rosie was formerly married to Jerry May, Sr. and to this union three children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three loving sons, Jerry May, Jr. of Angie, LA; Fredy L. May of Folsom, LA, and Donald May of Bogalusa, LA; daughter-in-law, Denise Tate May, Folsom, LA; godchildren, LaWhitney Abram and Sophia B. Robinson of Angie, LA; five grandchildren, one brother, Walter Lee (Ossie Lee) Smith of Angie, LA; aunts, Gertrude M. Graves of Angie, LA; Juanita Morris Bias of Varnado, LA and Ola Mae Smith of Jackson, MS and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. (Mary Morris) Smith; a brother, Eugene Smith, Sr. and a Sister-in-Law, Annie L. Smith.
She loved children, she loved her family and she loved her church.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 62007 LA-438, Angie, LA 70426. The service will be held at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Sidney Burns, Jr. will officiate.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton, LA are in charge of arrangements.
