Obituary

Jerry M. Brumfield
December 7, 1934 - November 9, 2017



JERRY M. BRUMFIELD, AGE 82 and a resident of the Springhill Community died Thursday afternoon November 9, 2017 at his home. He was a longtime member of Springhill Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 32 years. Jerry retired after 26 years as a deputy with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was also Constable of the 6th Ward for many years as well as a 6th Ward Police Juryman. He served as both a clerk of city hall as well as a police man for the Town of Franklinton. Jerry was a school bus driver for the Enon/Springhill area for the Washington Parish School Board for many years. He devoted much of his life to helping others throughout his professional career and his civil appointments but he also loved helping others during his private life. He would often visit those in need and help them any way that he could.
Survived by: 3 Sons and Daughters in law: Byron and Bronis Brumfield, Charles and Verdell Brumfield, Scott Brumfield all of Franklinton; 4 Grandchildren and Spouses: Annette Pierre, B.J. and Kelli Brumfield, Mike and Cindy Ingram, Vicki and Tom Comeaux; 7 Great-grandchildren and a Spouse: Cierra and Aaron Stein, Cheyenne Pierre, Brody Brumfield and Brylie Brumfield, Claire Ingram and Grace Ingram, Colby Comeaux; 2 Great-great-grandchildren: Olivia and Caden; Sister: Gloria Thomas; Sisters in law: Josephine Brumfield, Tammy Otis; Nieces: Bridget Bankston, Joann Maples; Also numerous other nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mavis Williams Brumfield, his parents Milton “Crip” Brumfield and Tessie Mae Tullos Brumfield, brothers C.W. Brumfield, Joseph Otis and nephew Johnny Brumfield.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday November 11th from 9 am until 1 pm. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Daniel Barber, Eld. Duane Ball and Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery.
