Homeowner Arrested in “House Rolling Incident”

In the early morning hours on October 27th, the Mandeville Police responded to the report of a disturbance in the Sanctuary Subdivision involving an irate homeowner and a group of local high school students who were taking part in their yearly ritual of “rolling or toilet papering” of homes of fellow students. The homeowner got dressed, armed himself and went looking for the teens.
Craig Scott, the homeowner, located the teens in another section of the neighborhood, blocked the street preventing their escape and confronted them with his semi-auto pistol. This led to his arrest for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Obstruction of a Roadway on November 2, 2017.
The MPD press release reported, “Though he had ample opportunity, Mr. Scott never once called 911 or requested police assistance. The end clearly did not justify the means this situation.” This incident is still under investigation and additional charges could still be brought against those responsible for “rolling the house” which is technically considered criminal mischief by statute.
