The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday (September 24, 2017) in the parking lot at 4854 Pontchartrain Drive in Slidell and discovered a 20-year-old man in the parking lot of the apartment complex with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Slidell Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.Frank William Beckendorf (20) of Slidell was identified by witnesses as the shooter and was still at the scene when STPSO deputies arrived. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with Second Degree Murder. A verbal altercation between the victim and the suspect reportedly led to the shooting.
