Jacqueline "Jackie" Mitchell Williams
April 9, 1927 - September 23, 2017


Jackie" Mitchell Williams, 90, passed from this earthly life on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy R. Williams Jr.; and her parents, James Devon and Evie (Branch) Mitchell.
She is survived by her children, Charlotte (John) Sances of Lafollette, Tenn., Deidre (John) Dickens of Schuyler, Va., Murphy Reese (Melody) Williams III of Gillsburg, Miss., and the Rev. Eric (Lisa) Williams of Pine. Mrs. Williams also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren to cherish her memory.
In the years that she lived in Bogalusa before moving to be with her daughters, Jackie was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Being a full-time mom to her children kept her busy, attending many dance recitals, performances, graduations and lots of football games. Jackie got much enjoyment from playing card and tile games with her family as well as many dear friends. Jackie leaves behind many cousins and dear friends who will miss her smile, congeniality and graciousness.
Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, followed immediately by a funeral service at 2 p.m. led by her son, the Rev. Eric Williams. Interment in Hillview Memorial Cemetery will follow the service.
Pallbearers will be John Dickens, John Sances, Josh Williams, Eli Einhorn, Ronnie Manning and Richard (Dickie) Smith.
Donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 280 Mt. Pleasant Road, Bogalusa, LA 70427, in lieu of flowers.
