Obituary

Derward Morgan
February 28, 1929 - July 23, 2017



DERWARD WILFORD MORGAN, AGE 88 and a resident of Franklinton died at 2:15 pm Sunday afternoon at his home. He was a cable repair technician for AT&T for nearly 40 years and also a retired dairyman. Derward was a United States Navy veteran and an ordained deacon who attended Bethel Baptist Church. Alongside his wife, he was member of “Campers on a Mission” that traveled around the country performing mission projects. Derward had a passion for airplanes and even had his own Cessna plane that he enjoyed flying for many years. He was always a loving husband, father and grandfather that cherished the time spent with his family.
Survived by: Wife of 65 years: Wilda Crowe Morgan of Franklinton; 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Terry and Carol Morgan of Franklinton, Alan and Melanie Morgan of Amite; Daughter and Son in law: Rhonda and Terry Lobell of Livingston; 4 Grandchildren and Spouses: Christopher and Susan Morgan of Denham Springs, Sandy Wayne Morgan and Shayna Morgan of Amite, Tamra and Jay Yuratich of Livingston, Joshua and Jamie Lobell of French Settlement; 9 Great-grandchildren: Mayli Morgan, Sarah Tauzy, Sadie Tauzy, Mackenzie Morgan, Brody Morgan, Andrew Yuratich, Cooper Yuratich, Tucker Lobell, Lily Lobell; Brother and Sister in law: Nathan and Alma Morgan of Amite; 2 Sisters in law: Della Ruth Simmons, Mildred Miller; Also numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents Alton Morgan and Bertha Miller Morgan, a brother Ellzey Morgan and sisters Josepha Jones and Johnnie Ruth Crowe.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday July 25th from 9 am until 12 pm. A funeral service will be held at 12 pm Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joe Kelly, Bro. Terry Lobell and Rev. Tom Descant officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
