Elderly Man Beaten During Road Rage Incident

A road rage incident, yesterday (July 6, 2017) morning, turned into a brutal beating of a 73-year-old Slidell man. Slidell Police responded to a call about two young men beating an elderly man. Officers located Brett McCraney (19) of Slidell and Adonis Young (26) of New Orleans hiding in a nearby house. The disoriented elderly victim was located a short distance away with severe injuries.
McCraney reportedly claimed he and Young were almost hit with the elderly man's car as they were walking across the street and they yelled at the elderly man who pulled over to the side of the road, an action the two took as a sign of aggression. McCraney told officers he “felt like he had to defend his territory” and “show him what was up” and reportedly began to beat the elderly man.
The 73-year-old man was transported to a local Slidell hospital, but due to his severe facial injuries, he had to be transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans. The victim was unable to remember any of the details involving the incident.
At the time of the incident, McCraney and Young were both charged with disturbing the peace and second degree battery. More charges could follow, and due to the age of the victim, McCraney and Young could face enhanced penalties.
