Busting Into Homes Lands Covington Man in Jail

Makes us question: are we safe in our own homes?
Emmitt Roach (30) of Covington was arrested after busting into one home and attempting to do so at another Monday (July 24, 2017) morning. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office report says responding deputies were told by the initial victim that the man had attempted to break into his home by striking his front window with a statue from the yard. While they were at that residence making a report, a neighbor told the deputies that the suspect had entered into another nearby residence. Deputies surrounded that residence and, upon hearing a struggle from the inside of the home, they made forced entry through the front door and found Roach upstairs.
The homeowner at the second home told deputies Roach produced a knife and forced his way into the residence. Once inside, he began to act erratically and appeared to be hallucinating and under the influence of an unknown substance.
Emmitt Roach was booked on the charges of Aggravated Burglary, False Imprisonment; Offender Armed,  Aggravated Assault, and Attempted Aggravated Burglary.
