On June 20, 2017 Emelda Mingo (59) of Bogalusa was arrested and booked with vehicular homicide in a fatal crash that took the life of Joseph “Chris” Bruno of Bush.
Bruno, who was driving a motorcycle on Louisiana 21 on December 29, 2016, struck Mingo's car as Mingo drove a car out of the driveway of the Sun Village Bingo Hall and tried to cross the highway at Pierce Road. Bruno died later at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. Bruno was the pharmacy supervisor at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa and was on his way home from work when the crash occurred.
Mingo, who was initially cited with failure to yield from a private drive, was treated for minor injuries. She remained in the parish jail in Covington on Friday (July 7, 2017).
