Bogalusa: Burglar ID'd When He Raised His Mask

The Bogalusa Police Department responded to an alarm activation at the Tobacco Discount on Memphis Street on Sunday, July 23, 2017. The front door glass had been shattered and numerous packs of Newport and Kool menthol cigarettes had been taken. Video surveillance footage caused detectives to identify the burglar as Darnell Reed (46) of Bogalusa. Although he wore a mask, the suspect raised the mask to look around.
Reed was later observed walking on Columbia Street near Davenport Avenue. He was carrying a large plastic bag that contained two boxes of candy and a large amount of Newport and Kool cigarettes. Those items were determined to have been stolen in a burglary of the Tiger Den Exxon located just outside the city limits on LA 21 South. Reed was charged with Possession of Stolen Things and this case was turned over to the Washington Parish Sheriff's Department.
Reed was also charged with Simple Burglary of the Tobacco Discount. A warrant for Simple Burglary will be issued on Reed for another convenience store burglary that occurred in the city limits of Bogalusa and he is the suspect in other convenience store burglaries in the Bogalusa area.
