Obituary

Lucille Dufrene Matherne
February 5, 1932 - June 23, 2017



LUCILLE DUFRENE MATHERNE, AGE 85 and a resident of Mt. Hermon died Friday morning June 23, 2017 at her home. She was a native of Lafourche Parish but had lived in Washington Parish for over 30 years and later attended Bogue Chitto Baptist Church. Lucille was a longtime employee of Bell’s Seafood in Larose as a seafood processor. She loved reading and doing word search puzzles. She also enjoyed making crafts and crocheting, including countless afghans and other items. Lucille was an avid gardener of both flowers and fruits and vegetables, which she often canned or made into jelly. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, neighbors and friends.
Survived by: Son: John Matherne of Mt. Hermon; 2 Grandchildren and Spouses: Toby Matherne and Tiffany Hotard, Eric and Tiffany Matherne all of Larose; 7 Grandchildren: Krista Matherne, Annie Matherne, Ashlee Matherne, Mackenzie Matherne, Allie Matherne, Emily Matherne, Adrian Matherne; 2 Sisters and Brothers in law: Joyce and Sherman Dufrene of Larose, Johann and Tildon Tastate of Lockport; Brother: Stanley Dufrene of Texas; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vince Joseph Matherne, grandson Ian Matherne, her parents Alzia Dufrene and Annie Allemand Dufrene, sisters Emelda Colston, Loise Lirette and brother Edward Dufrene.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday June 27th from 9 am until 11 am. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at 3 pm Tuesday in the Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery in Larose.
