Mandeville Man Gets DWI After Striking Police Car

Mandeville Police Department Assistant Chief of Police Ron Ruple reports that on June 01, 2017, at approximately 1 am, an officer of the Mandeville Police Department stopped behind an illegally parked vehicle and, while speaking to the occupants, the officer's patrol vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Michael DeGavage (26) of Mandeville.
The MPD officer stopped DeGavage's vehicle and It became quickly apparent that DeGavage was intoxicated. DeGavage failed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test and a breath sample provided by DeGavage registered .201g% BAC.
DeGavage was arrested on the charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Careless Operation. No injuries were recorded and damage to the vehicles was minor.
