Not only did Shawn Landry (24) of Hammond try to sell a stolen laptop to Tangipahoa Parish Deputy Michael D'Amato, but he had numerous credit cards and ID cards and a semi-automatic handgun inside the stolen vehicle he was driving!
It all happened April 30, 2017 when the deputy entered the Murphy Gas Station in Ponchatoula to fuel his marked patrol unit. While the deputy (in full uniform) was fueling his unit, Landry walked up to the deputy asking if he would like to purchase a laptop. Deputy D'Amato became extremely suspicious and subsequently detained the subject after conflicting statements about the owner of the laptop. The deputy soon discovered the vehicle Landry was driving and the suspect laptop were both recently reported stolen from a residence just several feet from Landry's residence.
TPSO detectives gained additional evidence that linked Landry to numerous vehicle burglaries.
Landry has since been charged with six counts of burglary, auto theft, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, felony possession of stolen property, and inciting a felony.
Arrests don’t come any easier than this!
