Thursday (May 18, 2017) morning, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a two vehicle crash on LA 36 that claimed the life of Domario Rodricous Smith (32) of Covington.
Troopers determined that Smith was riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on LA 36 and Honora Kennedy Richard (52) of Covington was driving a 2006 Toyota Avalon eastbound on LA 36. Richard attempted a left turn but crossed into the path of Smith's motorcycle.
Despite wearing a helmet, Smith sustained severe injuries in the crash. He was transported to St. Tammany Parish Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Richard was properly restrained and sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The findings in the crash investigation will be forwarded to the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney’s Office for consultation of charges.
