Fake Home Invasion Report Lands Two in Tangi Jail

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that two citizens were arrested and are now behind bars after reporting a fake home invasion. Hannah Charbonnet (19) and her ex-boyfriend  Alexander Fisher (20) reportedly concocted the story that Charbonnet was tied up and held at gunpoint by an unknown attacker at the home of her current boyfriend and father of her child. The story included that the residence was then burglarized of several items and multiple firearms.
TPSO reports that, in fact, the current boyfriend (the true victim) came home to find his girlfriend zip-tied to the infant’s crib while the child is left unattended.
Deputies responded on April 26, 2017 around 6:20 pm to the Independence residence and were given the concocted story by Charbonnet. Detectives began to discover inconsistencies with physical evidence, statements and documented text messages between Charbonnet and Fisher that led detectives to believe that the reported home invasion could be a scam!
On April 27, 2017 Charbonnet admitted to fabricating and staging the reported home invasion with the assistance of Fischer. Detectives were pleased to charge Charbonnet with filing a false police report, child desertion, theft of a firearm, and felony theft. Detectives located Fisher and charged him with filing a false police report, child desertion, theft of a firearm, and felony theft.
Detectives have since been able to locate the items taken from the residence, including the firearms.
“Knowingly giving false information to law enforcement concerning the alleged commission of a crime is a complete waste of time and valuable resources,” said Edwards. “We will investigate such instances with a zero tolerance.”
