Following Public Hearings on three ordinances (regarding the Choctaw Road Landfill contract, revision of WPG employees handbook, and revision of the “no thru truck routes” ordinance), the Washington Parish Council addressed a full agenda Tuesday (April 10, 2017).
- Residents Philip Bedwell and Fate Ferrell spoke in opposition to approval of the Choctaw Road Landfill contract. Gloria Kates asked questions related to the contract.
- The Council approved all three ordinances previously the subjects of Public Hearings. The Council voted unanimously, with the exception of Councilman Talley's vote of “No” on the Choctaw Landfill contract.
- Ben Clayton with Clayton Law Firm presented his vision for a Ford truck factory in Bogalusa.
- Washington Parish Librarian Al Barron advised the public and Council on upcoming programs at the libraries. (Beginning at 42:00 into video of the meeting). In addition, folk singer Bobby Horton will perform “under the oak tree” at the Franklinton Branch on Wednesday, April 26th at 7 pm.
- Parish President Richard Thomas and his staff presented the President's Report (beginning at 45:50 into video of the meeting). Donnell Merritt provided report of work performed by crews of the WPG.
