Woman Jailed in Tangipahoa on Bank Fraud

It took some time, but when the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office received a bank fraud complaint on September 2, 2016, their Financial Crimes Unit began their investigation. The report was that a citizen’s routing and account numbers from their financial institution had been compromised and used to make payments on utility accounts in the Baton Rouge area without their consent. Detective Travis Pitman conducted an extensive investigation on financial records from the utility company and researched methods of transmission of the stolen financial information.
As a result, Baton Rouge resident Jasmine Thompson (24) was identified as a suspect and on March 24, 2017, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office arrested Thompson on Bank Fraud. Thompson is currently incarcerated at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail awaiting arraignment on her charges.
Continual inter-agency cooperation between law enforcement jurisdictions has continued to be a success. These partnerships aid in and prevent further crimes from being committed in our communities.
