Covington Man Killed Crossing Busy Roadway

At approximately 08:37 PM last night (March 30, 2017) the Covington Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on US Hwy 190 at the intersection of E. 35th Ave, which claimed the life of 56 year-old Joseph Foreman (pictured here), a Covington resident.
Officers determined that Mr. Foreman was attempting to cross Collins Blvd, at the intersection of E. 35th Ave. when he was struck by a 2008 Ford Taurus operated by Nathaniel Magee, a 33 year-old Marrero man. Foreman was airlifted to North Oaks Trauma Center in Hammond, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Field sobriety tests of Mr. Magee led officers to suspect he was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the crash and toxicology results are pending. Mr. Magee was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail for DWI 1st Offense and Vehicular Homicide.
