Bogalusa Man Arrested – Released – Arrested Again

From Washington Parish Sheriff's Office Press Release
March has not been a good month for Nicholas Tyler Vaughn (21), a resident of South Dogwood Drive in Bogalusa. He was arrested March 1 for fraudulent acquisition of a credit card and possession of drug paraphernalia, released March 9, and was back in jail March 10 on the charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Vaughn was spotted by a WPSO patrol sergeant in the Sportsman Inn Motel parking lot as he was exiting a pickup truck and with a hypodermic needle protruding from a front pocket of his trousers. A subsequent officer safety search of Vaughn revealed four aluminum pouches which Vaughn admitted contained heroin.
“Heroin is an awful drug,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “Once it gets its venomous talons into a person, it controls that person’s life until either intervention and rescue or death. Today’s heroin is even more dangerous with the introduction of fentanyl, a highly toxic drug, which is often mixed with the heroin, frequently leading to the death of the user. Our patrol deputies, our detectives and our Drug Task Force work diligently throughout our parish to help remove illegal drugs from our streets. I congratulate our fine sergeant for making this arrest and, perhaps, saving Vaughn’s life.”
