Obituary

Leon Smith, Jr.
September 16, 1956 - February 14, 2017

Brother Leon Smith, Jr. was born on September 16, 1956 to the late Iristean and Leon Smith, Sr. He was a native of Franklinton, LA and upon completion of high school, he made New Orleans which was his home for nearly 30 years before returning back to his hometown of Franklinton. After accepting Christ at an early age, he remained committed to being a disciple of Christ. Brother Leon was a dedicated member of Greater Hayes Creek Church. He faithfully served as a member of the male choir and the adult choir. His willingness to serve in various capacities, along with his humility and kindness, defined his character and allowed the glory of the Lord to be revealed for being a godly example of a leader, a husband, a father.
Brother Leon ‘s spiritual journey was strengthened when he married the love of his life, Antowanette Neville, on April 19, 2002.
Brother Leon was preceded in death by his father Leon Smith, Sr. and mother, Iristean Smith, grandmother Gradulee Smith.
The legacy of Brother Leon Smith, Jr’s life will be cherished by his daughter and loving wife, Antwinette Smith, sons, Solento Rodriquez Leon (Demetrice) Smith, III, Daniel Cornellus (Shanna) Smith, Carlton Ray (Jeness) Clarks, Darius (Kayla) Smith; Daughters, Ireon (Alijah) Smith, Kadesha Smith (Jonny) and Daleonne Smith, 15 grandchildren, 2 brothers Leroy (Carol) Smith and Bruce Smith. Mother-in-law Rutha Mae Jones, 4 brothers-in-law, 2 sister-in-laws and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 2:00PM – 6:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 2:00PM at Greater Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jerome Warren – Officiating. Internment – Patterson-Hart Cemetery.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
