Covington Man Arrested for Burglarizing Cars
St. Tammany Sheriff’s detectives have arrested
Brandon Joseph Gray (27) of Covington after he burglarized several vehicles at a
Covington-area condominium complex. On February 4, 2016 six vehicles were
burglarized and four days later three more were hit. Sunglasses, electronics,
shoes, makeup, wallets, purses, cash, credit cards, clothes, perfume, BBQ and
kitchen sets, a skateboard and even a pack of gum were stolen out of the
vehicles while their owners slept. In all cases, the vehicles had been left
unlocked.
Gray was arrested February 8
after surveillance video caught him making multiple charges at local businesses
using credit cards that was stolen out of some of the vehicles. He has been
booked for bank fraud (2 counts), simple burglary (9 counts), and criminal
damage.
It is unknown at this time if Gray acted alone or with others.
Detectives are also looking into the possibility that Gray is responsible for
other vehicle burglaries in surrounding neighborhoods.
The investigation is
ongoing and additional charges and arrests are possible.
