
Sheriff Edwards discovered that employees, Criminal Records Supervisor Sgt. Sonja Dyson Evans (55) of Kentwood, Latecial Milton (50) of Roseland, and Crystal Knight (31) of Amite, had indeed participated in illegal criminal bond activity. Evans was charged with Forgery (15 counts), Injuring public records, and Malfeasance in office. Milton was charged with one count of Malfeasance in office. Knight was charged with 19 offences to include Forgery, Injuring public records, Malfeasance and Illegal consideration of criminal bail bonds. During the investigation, the accused were either terminated or put on administrative leave.
Additionally arrested were Racquelle D. Collins (43) of Tickfaw, Robert Smith (63) of Roseland and Kedrick Carlson (31) of Hammond for there participation and knowledge of illegal criminal bond activity.
Due to the on-going investigation and to the sensitive nature of the allegations, limited details are available at this time. Future arrest and additional charges are expected to be forthcoming.
Sheriff Edwards states (in part), “No one is above the law. I will not allow for any employee who allegedly engages in criminal activity to tarnish the good character and dedication of the many great women and men who unselfishly serve the residents of Tangipahoa Parish with integrity and professionalism.”
