Dock Dyson, Jr.

May 11, 1937 - December 30, 2020

Dock Dyson Jr., a long-time resident of Franklinton LA, left this earth on December 30, 2020 at the age of 83. Born to Dock Dyson, Sr. and Dora Bickham Dyson. on May 11, 1937. He was the seventh of eight children. He married Zolda Wilson Dyson in 1960, and to this union one son was born.

Dock was a faithful member of Crystal Springs A.M.E. Church where he served as a trustee.

Dock worked for many years as a truck driver, at Gaylord Paper Mill, and Smith and Smith Tractor company. Dock was best known for his gardening, especially his homegrown vegetables and watermelons. He was also known for driving tractors in the Washington Parish Fair parade.

Dock will be forever missed by his wife Zolda Dyson; son, Howard Isaac Dyson; granddaughter, Tevoy Ital Dyson and fiancé Jason Harry; his great-granddaughter, Tessa Ital Dyson Harry; sister, Louise Dyson Topps; four sisters-in-law, Hynethia Wilson Dadzie, Bobbie Wilson Burris, Joanne Hart Wilson, and Otheal Toomer Wilson; one brother-in-law, Hamilton Burris; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock Dyson, Sr. and Dora Bickham Dyson; two brothers, Hertis Dyson and David Harry Dyson; four sisters and spouses, Lois Dyson Bickham (Edwin), Eddie Joe Dyson Vernon (James Murl), Margaret Dyson Magee (Wilmer Sr.); one sister-in-law, Nercelia Wilson Butler (Dock); Five brothers-in-law, George Topps, Theodore Wilson Jr., Abe Charles Wilson, Francis Dadzie, and Myrtis Wilson.

A drive through viewing held on Monday, January 4, 2020 from 2:00PM-5:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton, LA.

A Graveside Service will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2020 at 11:00AM at Crystal Springs A.M.E. Church Cemetery. Rev. Larry Whitley – pastor officiating. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
