Category 5 Hurricane Iota is Big Threat to Central America

While not a threat to the United States, Hurricane Iota is forecast to strengthen into a category 5 hurricane as it approaches Central America tonight. Extreme winds, life-threatening storm surge, and heavy rainfall is expected to impact Honduras and Nicaragua. Flash flooding, river flooding, and mudslides are expected to be significant and catastrophic.

The National Hurricane Center is not reporting any disturbances threatening the United States.
