Jimmy Earl Thomas

November 29, 1943 - October 8, 2020

Jimmy Earl Thomas, age 77 and a resident of the Thomas Community, died Thursday morning October 8, 2020 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was a 1961 graduate of Thomas High School where he played on the Tigers basketball team. He was retired from the engineering department of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development after more than 30 years of service. Jimmy Earl was a longtime active member of Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church that loved the Lord and his church family. He was also a longtime beef cattleman, who always enjoyed farming and taking care of his cows. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and taking many cruises together over the years. Jimmy Earl cherished the time spent with his grandsons and family.

Survived by: Wife of 51 years: Diane Singley Thomas; Son and Daughter in law: Jason Kyle Thomas and Dewanna Thomas; Daughter and Son in law: April Thomas Ard and Joseph Ard; 4 Grandsons: Delos Jason Thomas, Devin Kyle Thomas, Jayden Daniel Ard, Jaxen Dain Ard; Brother and Sister in law: Devon and Delores Thomas; Brothers in law and Sisters in law: Preston and Cathy Singley, Sidney and Linda Singley, Randy Singley, Henry “Kookie” Singley; Sisters in law and Brothers in law: Regenia and Joseph Aucoin, Barbara and Chance Smith; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Delos Eugene Thomas and Myrtle Spears Thomas, a sister Christine Thomas and an infant sister Bertha Lee Thomas.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday October 13th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Tuesday with Eld. Richard Magee, Eld. Doyle Ball and Eld. Yancey Magee officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas/Forest Haven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the prefers memorial donations to Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church (28809 Hwy. 424, Franklinton, LA 70438)
