Washington Parish Opens 2 Shelters/Issues Voluntary Evacuation Order

A voluntary evacuation order has been issued for Washington Parish residents who live in low lying areas prone to flooding. If you have experienced flooding in the past, we urge you to move to higher ground today while there is still daylight and before Hurricane Sally makes landfall.

Residents who live in structures unable to withstand hurricane-force winds, such as mobile homes or campers, are encouraged to take shelter with family and friends, or at either the Franklinton High School or Bogalusa High School shelter location. Shelters will open this evening, September 14, 2020 at 6:00 pm.

Please note that these are shelters of last resort and shelterees will have to follow COVID-19 mask mandate. Those coming to the shelter should bring their own pillow, blanket, and necessities for an overnight stay.
