Obituary

Lourenda Stewart

September 24, 1954 - September 29, 2020

Lourenda Cooper Stewart, age 66, passed away peacefully at her home on September 29th, 2020.

Lourenda is survived by her husband, Gary Stewart; children Dale (Kristie) Stewart and Tiffany (Dustin) Barber; her most precious gifts from God, her grandchildren, Cody and Cassidy Stewart, Jacob and Jackson Barber, Kayleigh and Parker Wheat. She is also survived by her brother, Edgar (Niki) Cooper, who held an incredibly special place in her heart. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and her most loyal companion, her dog Angel.

Lourenda is predeceased by her parents, Arnold Cooper Sr. and Mary Cooper; brothers Arnold Cooper Jr. and Kenneth Cooper; and a sister, Cindy Cooper.

Lourenda was born on September 24th, 1954, in Bogalusa, La. She was a wonderful wife and mother, but she was the absolute best Memaw and MiMi. Her grandchildren are what kept her world spinning, and if you were lucky enough to be friends with her beloved grandchildren, you got to enjoy the same love, care, compassion and grilled cheeses that she gave her grandbabies. She had a way of making everyone she met feel special. She was the oldest of 5 children, and she took much pride in making sure everyone was taken care of. She loved to laugh, dance and talk, but most of all, she simply loved to love. Nobody entered or exited her home without a hug. You were also guaranteed to leave with a full belly!

Poole Ritchie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will begin at 10:00am with a service at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home. Rev. Pete Underwood will officiate the service and interment will follow at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cody Stewart, Spencer Cooper, Gavin Cooper, Parker Wheat, Cole Edwards and Brian Hines. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacob Barber, Jackson Barber, Joey Andrade, Larry Quinn, Quincy White, and Steve Reeves.
