Renewal of Millage for Riverside Medical Center on the Ballot

For Washington Parish voters living in Hospital Service District No. 1 (Riverside Medical Center), the following proposition is on the ballot for August 15, 2020. This is a renewal only, not a new tax and no increase in the tax rate.

Hospital Service District No. 1 Proposition

(Millage Renewal)

Shall Washington Parish Hospital Service District No. 1, State of Louisiana (the "District"), be authorized to continue to levy a tax of eighteen (18) mills on all property subject to taxation within the District (an estimated $1,600,000 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2022 and ending with the year 2031, for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and operating the hospital and medical buildings and facilities, including equipment and fixtures, of the District?

On August 6, 2020, Riverside Medical Center posted the following on their Facebook page.

"Now more than ever, our community needs Riverside Medical Center.

Riverside has tested over 1000 people and treated over 100 COVID patients. We are quality healthcare, 10 minutes from home. Last year our lab performed 300,000 tests. Imaging completed 20,000 tests.

Emergency Care treated 15,000 patients. Primary Care diagnosed and treated 24,000 patients. Outpatient rehab treated patients in 11,000 visits.

Your community investment over the last decade has resulted in making 3D Mammograms available locally. Our Emergency Room doubled to lessen wait times. Strokes are treated with Telestroke Technology.

Cardiac Catheterization and Cardiology Specialists are available locally. Our advanced and larger lab performs complex tests in record time!

Future planned improvements include major upgrades in X-ray and Imaging, more Primary Care and Specialty Physicians, and facility improvements for better access and comfort.
