Covington Police Make Arrest in Home Invasion / Sexual Assault Case

On Monday, July 20, 2020, at approximately 12:45 PM, the Covington Police Department responded
to a home invasion and sexual assault in the W. 18th Avenue & N. Tyler Street area. Detectives searched for the suspect, described as a short black male with a face mask, possibly wearing a light green or dirty white shirt, and dark pants, believed to be riding a bicycle.

The CPD developed a suspect James Michael Buckley (42), who was arrested Tuesday (July 21, 2020) evening and charged with Home Invasion, First Degree Rape, Sexual Battery, Attempted Home Invasion (2 counts), and Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling. 

Thus far, the Criminal Investigations Division has dedicated more than 130 man-hours to this investigation and, with the help of the Patrol Division, gathered sufficient evidence to bring charges in less than 48 hours.
