Mandeville Police Department Releases 2019 Crime Report

The Mandeville Police Department released its is releasing its 2019 crime statistics, compiled from
seven categories which make up the national Uniform Crime Report that is reported to the FBI annually. Those seven categories are Murder, Rape, Robbery, Assault, Burglary, Theft, and Auto Theft. The city of Mandeville experienced increases from the previous calendar year in four of the seven categories.

Murders: There were 2 murders in Mandeville for 2019 (1 in 2018.) One of the murder arrests was was a drug overdose where the alleged dealer was arrested for homicide and the second murder was of Captain Vincent Liberto.
Rape: MPD investigated 2 rapes in 2019 (1 in 2018.)
Robbery: the numbers remain the same as the previous year with 3 in 2019 as in 2018.
Assaults: the numbers increased by 33% with 80 reported in 2019 (60 in 2018.)
Burglary: the numbers decreased  by 8%, with 23 reported in 2019, down from 25 in 2018.
Theft: Thefts is up slightly by 4.7% with 200 in 2019 and 191 in 2018. Shopliftings make up the bulk of these crimes.
Auto Thefts: Auto Thefts are down by 25% in 2019 with 6 stolen vehicles from 8 that were reported for 2018.
