Franklinton Community Forum on Jan. 29th Announced

Join Senator Beth Mizell at the Franklinton Community Forum to voice your concerns about our community.  The goal of this meeting is to obtain your opinions regarding Franklinton which currently ranks 61st for length of life and 58th for health outcomes.  A healthy community is one where individuals and families are physically and emotionally well and have lower rates of diabetes and other health concerns related to poor diets and lack of activity. The outcome of this meeting will be a prioritized listing of issues that either help or hinder Franklinton from being a Healthy Community.

The second phase of this process will be to identify action steps which will help us deal with the issues identified. Ultimately, a plan of action will be developed which will include a summary of the community needs and concerns identified, as well as steps to develop solutions to address these community needs.

It is becoming more and more evident that we must work collaboratively if we are to effectively address the needs and concerns in our community. The Franklinton Community Forum will be held on January 29, 2020 from 9:45 am-Noon at Hillcrest Baptist Church located at 2201 Washington St., Franklinton, LA.

Communities working closely together to solve these issues helps to create a more relevant workforce that is more skilled and more effective in meeting diverse community needs. As a passionate community member, your expertise would provide strategic guidance and vision to improve these health rankings for the residents of Franklinton.

We look forward to your participation in this very important process. We ask that you register as an attendee at https://franklintonforum.eventbrite.com by January 27, 2020 to confirm your attendance. Having an accurate count will allow us to properly plan for facilities and supplies.   We look forward to hearing your input and working with you on making Franklinton a healthier community.
