Obituary

James Starnes
July 27, 1945 - November 9, 2019



James Starnes, age 74 and a resident of the Warnerton Community, died Saturday afternoon November 9, 2019 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He was a longtime dredge operator for Smith Gravel and also a dairy worker for many years. James was a member of Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church that enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was an outstanding carpenter and liked woodworking. He built many benches and items for his family and friends. James was also a handy mechanic that liked working with his hands in whatever he could. He always loved spending time with his family.

Survived by: Wife: Betty O’Bryant Starnes of Warnerton; 2 Daughters: Jeanette Jones Starnes, Annette Jones both of Warnerton; 2 Sons: Lonnie Starnes, James Truman Starnes both of Warnerton; 11 Grandchildren: Jacob Averese O’Niel Jones, Mendy Lynn Day, Bessie Loretta May Jones, Jessie Samuel Allen Jones, Lynette Marie Jones, Chelsea Ann Jones, Anna Elizabeth Jones, Kelsey Lynn Starnes, Megan Jean Starnes, Hope Faith Starnes, Lonnie Quitman Starnes; Great-grandchildren: Jalen Nicole Smith, Kylie Jean Kihnel, Caelynn Strahan, Chase Breland, Donte Decosta, Chloe Jean Breland; 2 Brothers and a Sister in law: William and Barbara Starnes, Lark Starnes all of Pine; 2 Sisters and a Brother in law: Mable and Stanley Chainey of Folsom, Joan Williams of Pine; Also numerous nieces, nephews, brothers in law, sisters in law and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents George Truman Starnes and Ruth Hartzog Starnes, sisters Melva Lee Taylor, Nell Bates, Jean Fairburn, Deanie Stockstill, Mary Luper

Visitation will be at Faith Tabernacle Church Tuesday November 12th from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:30 pm Tuesday with Rev. Jerry Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
